HONG KONG May 2017
In collaboration with five dancers from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, HKAPA is the result of a performance art combining dance and painting captured on canvas. When the performance came to an end, two large scale abstract paintings were finished, both acting as the visual results and documentation of the performance of temporary movements by dancers and artist.
Transforming the ‘ephemeral’ into tangible, HKAPA is both performance and art. As performance, a choreographed display between dancers and artist depicts the nature of movement, anticipation, and participation in the artwork being created. As art, the tangible piece resulting from the performance captures the ephemeral movements depicted as blue patterns left from the paint covered hands, feet, limbs, and bodies of the dancers onto the white canvas.
